Echoes of the Unseen House

4th-level Enchantment · Ritual

A epic spell for D&D 5e.

The walls remember, even if the living forget.

Stats

  • Casting Time: 1 hour (ritual)
  • Range: Self
  • Components: V, S, M (a broken locket from the house, warm to the touch)
  • Duration: Concentration, up to 1 hour

Effect

You invoke the lingering echo of the last spoken words within an empty house you have recently visited. For the spell’s duration, you can speak using the exact voice, tone, and accent of that speaker as if you had heard them, and the sound carries a comforting warmth. Any creature that hears you speaking the mimicked voice must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or be charmed by you for the duration. While charmed, the creature has disadvantage on Insight checks to discern truth and you have advantage on Charisma (Deception) checks made against it. In addition, each time you speak while the spell is active, a gentle warmth spreads in a 10‑foot radius centered on you. Each willing creature of your choice within that radius gains temporary hit points equal to your spellcasting ability modifier (minimum 1). The spell’s warmth does not affect the charmed creature’s ability to act normally. You may designate one creature who has a strong motive to lie about what you say (the "witness"). That creature automatically fails any Wisdom (Insight) check to detect your deception while the spell lasts, and it has advantage on Charisma (Deception) checks to assert the opposite of what you say.

At Higher Levels

When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 5th level or higher, the duration of concentration increases by 1 hour for each slot above 4th, and the temporary hit points granted to each ally increase by 1 for each slot above 4th.
