Effect

When you utter a false statement within the spell’s range, every creature that can hear you experiences a fleeting taste of cinnamon on the tip of their tongue. The spell triggers a Will save against your spell DC. Critical Success: The liar’s words literally taste of cinnamon to all listeners, granting each listener a +2 circumstance bonus to Perception checks to sense the deceit for the next minute. Success: Listeners taste cinnamon, and you gain a +1 circumstance bonus to your next Deception check against those listeners. Failure: The lie passes unnoticed; listeners taste a bland, unremarkable flavor. Critical Failure: The spell backfires, causing your own spoken words to taste of cinnamon for 1 round, giving you a -2 penalty to Charisma‑based checks as you’re distracted by the odd sensation. Additionally, as a whimsical echo of an old sealing rite, any doors within 30 feet that are currently closed swing outward open for 1 round, then resume their normal state.

Heightened (+2)

At spell rank 3, the cinnamon flavor becomes a vivid, aromatic burst that lasts for 1 minute, and the Will save DC increases by 2. All listeners who succeed at their save still taste a faint cinnamon aftereffect for the duration. Doors within 60 feet swing outward open for 1 minute, remaining ajar until a creature closes them.
