Laskettava Haava

Spell 2 · Arcane, Divine, Occult

A classic spell for Pathfinder 2e.

The butcher's wisdom: meat spoils when kept, but a wound may be jarred and sealed until the marrow gives its answer.

Stats

  • Traditions: Arcane, Divine, Occult
  • Cast: 2 actions (somatic, verbal)
  • Range: touch
  • Duration: 1 hour or until discharged

Effect

You touch a willing living creature and redirect wounds yet to come. The target gains a fleeting ward that absorbs the next instance of damage they would take before the spell's duration expires. When damage is absorbed, it is held suspended—the target takes no damage, suffers no wound, bleeds no blood. The spell then immediately ends. At any point before the spell expires, the target can discharge the held damage as a free action with the concentrate trait, causing themselves to take the full amount of absorbed damage at that moment. The damage manifests with visceral specificity: a sword cut held from morning opens across the ribs at dusk; fire kept from the hand blisters the shoulder when released. If the spell expires without discharge, the held damage occurs immediately in whatever form it was originally dealt. The target always knows when damage has been absorbed and how much is held.

Heightened (4th)

The duration extends to 8 hours, and the spell can absorb up to two separate instances of damage before ending. Each must be discharged separately.
