Properties

**Drinking the Horn.** As an action, you can drink the horn’s contents (the horn refills at dawn). You become sober; any intoxication ends. Then make a DC 12 Wisdom saving throw. On a failure you are infused with the lingering judgment of the previous drinker. For the next hour you have advantage on Insight checks and disadvantage on Persuasion, Deception, and Performance checks. While this effect lasts you cannot be charmed or frightened. At the end of each minute you may repeat the DC 15 Wisdom saving throw; on a success the effect ends early. **Horn’s Receipt.** A brass tag affixed to the horn bears a faded receipt signed by “Eldric Thorn,” a name that does not match the last drinker. If a creature examines the receipt and succeeds on a DC 14 Investigation check, it learns that the horn is cursed (see Curse).

Curse

The Horn of the Wrong Signature is cursed. Once you drink from it and fail the initial Wisdom save, you are cursed. While cursed, each time you finish a short rest you must succeed on a DC 15 Charisma saving throw or feel an overwhelming compulsion to seek out the person named on the receipt. This compulsion persists until the curse is lifted by a remove curse spell or similar magic.

Lore

The horn was forged in a dim tavern where a dying patron sought to bind his own judgment to the drink, ensuring his opinions would outlive him. A clerk’s mistake signed the receipt with the name of a rival, “Eldric Thorn,” and the error twisted the magic. Those who drink find themselves haunted by another’s perspective, and the wrong signature spreads the curse beyond its original intent. Legends whisper that understanding the error may break the bond, but the price is often one’s very will.
