Compass of the Unerring

Stats

• Casting: A breath‑long chant, spoken as the dusk settles
• Range: Touch, binding the caster to a willing companion
• Duration: Until the swapped certainty fades, or the caster walks the marked trail

Effect

The caster relinquishes their innate sense of direction, granting it to a chosen ally whose certainty of bearing becomes absolute. In return, the caster inherits that ally’s unshakable certainty, feeling the world’s compass align with the ally’s footfalls. As the new certainty takes hold, a narrow corridor of disturbed dust appears behind the caster, marking the exact route they have taken. The path remains untouched elsewhere, a silent guide for those who dare follow.

Escalation

If the caster channels greater willpower, the exchange deepens: the dust‑carved trail widens into a luminous corridor that repels confusion for all who walk it, extending the duration to a full day. Pushing the spell further can bind multiple allies, weaving a network of shared certainty that creates a web of illuminated pathways, each shimmering with the combined resolve of the participants.
