Description

The flood does not flow from rivers or storms. It gathers in places where a spoken promise has been shattered, seeping up from the earth like a dark, viscous breath. Survivors of the deluge swear they were each pulled into a different room—one a cracked library, another a shattered chapel, a third a long‑abandoned kitchen—yet all rooms share the same impossible water: a surface that offers no reflection, as if the world itself refuses to look back.

Attacks & Special Powers

Rising Flood (100%) – The water surges, engulfing the target for 1d6+2 damage. The slick, cold mass imposes a –10 penalty to Dexterity checks while within it. Void Reflection (25%) – Any creature that gazes upon the water sees nothing of its own visage. The shock induces a sudden loss of sanity: 1d6. Promise‑Breaker Surge (10%) – If the monster learns that a victim has broken a personal oath, the flood spikes, dealing an extra 1d6 damage and forcing a panic roll (1‑5 on a d100).

Behavior

The Flood is drawn inexorably to broken vows; it will not rise unless a promise is shattered nearby, and it retreats when the offending oath is either fulfilled or irrevocably forgotten. It moves slowly but persistently, filling any low ground, and it seems to sense the emotional weight of the unkept word, targeting those whose conscience is most burdened. The water never reflects, and those who stare into it for too long risk losing a piece of their sanity to the endless void.
