Spell 5 · Occult, Primal

A epic spell for Pathfinder 2e.

The stone whispers the lies of the land.

Stats

  • Traditions: Occult, Primal
  • Cast: 2 actions, verbal, somatic
  • Range: 30 feet
  • Defense: Will

Effect

You spread a thin layer of stone dust over a paper map and bind it with a half‑finished scaffolding of magical sigils. The map animates, arguing its depiction of the terrain against the actual land within range. The area makes a Will save. **Critical Success.** The map’s claims are dismissed entirely; you gain a +2 circumstance bonus to Perception checks to navigate the area for 10 minutes, and any hidden older measurements beneath the map become visible to you as harmless annotations. **Success.** The map’s arguments are persuasive. You treat the area as if you had succeeded on a Seek check, learning any concealed features, and you also glimpse the older measurements, which you can interpret as true for the next hour. **Failure.** The map’s falsehoods take hold. The terrain seems to shift according to the map’s outdated lines, imposing a -2 status penalty to Perception for 10 minutes, and you are misled by the older measurements as if they were accurate. **Critical Failure.** The map’s deception overwhelms you. The terrain reshapes to match the map’s erroneous layout for 1 minute, you become lost, and the older measurements bind to your mind, granting a -4 status penalty to all checks involving the area for 1 hour.

Heightened (+2)

Increase the range by 15 feet. The spell’s duration becomes sustained up to 1 minute, and on a success you may target an additional adjacent area of equal size.
