Appearance
Tall and dignified, Garric wears soot-black robes stitched with gold ember sigils that pulse faintly with each breath. His eyes flicker like embers, reflecting the constant glow of the city’s unending blaze. He moves with deliberate calm, a living ledger, and his voice carries the rasp of iron and the hush of wet stone.
Secret
The city’s law declares its fire a divine blessing, but the true cost is a monthly tribute of souls taken from the poor, siphoned into the molten heart of the city’s citadel. Garric has long known that the taxes he collects are a pact with a fire god, and that the city’s fire will cease only if the truth of that pact is confessed to the council and the populace.
Hook
A band of rebels seeks to extinguish the city’s curse and offers Garric a chance to break the pact. They need him to disclose the ledger’s secret. Garric must decide: stay loyal to the Council, risk his life to protect the city’s secret, or aid the rebels and risk being branded a heretic. The adventurers can bargain with him, threaten him, or attempt to uncover his secret themselves.
